Always like Maha S, have some fabulous Wats in and near town. Been through there some, wife has friend there teaching and a niece is student there. Hotels are quite inexpensive there, last time found a very nice new place for 350 baht, i found the key word when looking for rooms is "New". Have seen my share of rat traps in that part of the world. Container rooms bite, so small, dont know why the use half cubes. Small is probably generous, more like claustrophobic. Stayed in one in Chiang Kahn, the walls transmit all sound so you hear everything, every word, whisper, vehicle, cell phone, dog, rat and chicken for 200 meters. Even on not so hot days, out in the sun, will get hot enough to melt your phone. Ours had a 2nd roof but still hit 60c+ with just the end of the cube exposed.
SiamTara is good. The suites are really nice for 1000 bt
